Tim Mason, Utility Policy and Strategy
Tim Mason is an electric industry leader with 25 of years’ experience in the design and assessment of energy markets, renewable and conventional generation facilities, and transmission assets. Tim led several seminal studies on renewable development, transmission development and grid integration, and he has spoken widely at Conferences and industry forums on renewable power markets and grid integration.
Most recently, Tim was for several year Senior Consultant with Black & Veatch’s Renewable Energy group, consulting to leading renewable developers, utilities, regulators and large energy consumers on developing renewable energy markets and transmission to deliver power to customers, and the integration or renewable generation into the existing power system. Initiatives that Tim led or actively co-managed include the California Renewable Energy Transmission Initiative (RETI) the Western Governors Association Western Renewable Energy Zone (WREZ).
Prior to this, Mr. Mason consulted to or worked for leading energy industry participants, including Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, the California Independent System Operator, Ventyx Corporation and Cantor Fitzgerald. He actively participated in the design of the current California energy market, as well as the design on the Irish and Dutch electric markets.
Tim has a Master of Arts degree from Boston University in Technology, Strategy and Policy and a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University.
