John Parsons, Consulting CFO
In addition to 25 years of investment and management experience, John has been an advisor to various clean technology companies including: (i) Project Development Partner with Clean Power Group developing utility scale solar in the US, Japan and Latin America with project development funding from General Electric, Northland Power (Canada), and others, and (ii) Zep Solar, a maker of solar panel mounting components (acquired by SolarCity). His energy background also includes founding and structuring a Section 29 alternative fuels project which was acquired by the Southern Company and generated over $2.4B in tax credits during its 10 years of operations.
Before EcoVolt Finance LLC, John was a co-founder of CleanREIT Partners together will Bill Hilliard. Before CleanREIT, John was a Managing Partner and CFO at Residential Growth Partners, a real estate investment firm. He also served as a manager of Halo Fund II, now fully invested, and as an advisor to Halo Fund I. Representative Halo Fund investments included Aravo Solutions, NetScaler, and Smart Therapeutics. Previously, he has served as CFO of White Knight Packaging (acquired by Parmalat), Elk Creek LLC, and Olliance.
John is a serial entrepreneur who has served as an executive at five venture-backed companies and was instrumental in building operations and processes, and putting in place financial systems and controls. He has invested in and advised more than 30 start-up companies. In addition, he has represented investors as a board member of three companies. John is also a Managing Partner in the Cleantech Circle and has been a judge in the Cleantech Open. Early in his career, he was a marketing, strategy and operations consultant at Ernst & Young, and he is a graduate of the Manufacturing Management Program at General Electric.
John earned an M.B.A. from The University of Virginia Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
